Join a world leading research team at the National Centre of Excellence in Mass Spectrometry Imaging (NiCE-MSI) at the UK`s National Physical Laboratory (NPL).

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team developing and applying the revolutionary 3D OrbiSIMS for high-resolution biomedical imaging. This powerful new instrument, built from an NPL concept, has recently been installed at NPL. It has the highest simultaneous spatial resolution and mass resolving power providing unique capability for label-free 3D imaging of cells, bacteria and tissue.


Our research goal is to image and identify metabolites and pharmaceuticals with sub-cellular resolution and to provide measurements that enable our biomedical collaborators to build fundamental understandings of metabolic networks.
The position is a 3 year fixed term contract.
We are seeking a high-calibre researcher with post-graduate experience in biological mass spectrometry, metabolomics, proteomics, mass peak identification, and experience with Orbitrap mass spectrometers would be beneficial. Experience in mass spectrometry imaging such as secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) is useful but not necessary as full training will be provided.
Our research goal is to image and identify metabolites and pharmaceuticals with sub-cellular resolution and to provide measurements that enable our biomedical collaborators to build fundamental understandings of metabolic networks.
